| Silicones
|
| Skycon is the Canadian
distributor for Bluestar Silicones, who with its Visil/Rhodorsil RTV II silicones is the leader in the
production of silicones for the mould making industry. The
Bluestar Silicone RTV II was developed specifically for this
industry that covers everything from decorative mould making
to industrial mould making. Bluestar manufactures a broad range
of silicones, both addition cure chemistry and condensation
cure chemistry, that cover architectural moulding, polyester
figurine moulding, polyurethane foam moulding and prototype
moulding.
Some of the products carried by Skycon include:
CONDENSATION CURES
|
 | GP-25: This is a low cost medium strength, two
component, tin catalyzed, room temperature cured silicone
rubber. It is designed as a 20 shore A rubber that gives
accurate detail reproduction. Typical applications include
figurine and giftware casting using polyester, urethane and
plaster materials. |
|
 | Vi-Sil V-1062: Designed as a 14 Shore A with excellent
reproduction when high detail is needed. Uses include
giftware, statuary, architectural (capitals, bases,
cornices) and transfer print pads. V-10625 when resistance
to polyester resins is required. |
|
 | Vi-Sil V-1065: This is Skycon's and one of
Bluestar's most
popular product. It is designed as a 25 Shore A medium
viscosity rubber with excellent physical properties, long
library life and accurate detail reproduction. Skycon sells
this almost exclusively to the architectural industry. 10655
for resistance to polyester resins. |
|
 | Vi-Sil V-1068: This is a softer, clear silicone that can
be used for masks or skin moulds for the film
industry. |
|
| ADDITIVE CURES |
 | Vi-Sil V-2330: This is a two component, addition cure,
room temperature or heat accelerated cure silicone rubber.
It is designed as a 28 Shore A rubber with high strength,
long library life, low shrinkage, excellent detail
reproduction, good release characteristics and improved
resistance to inhibition. Typical applications include
conventional production and prototype moulds, finished
rubber parts, stereo lithography (SLA) moulds and casting
architectural moulds. |
|
 | Vi-Sil V2340: Same as above but with a 42 Shore A
rubber. |
|
 | Vi-Sil V2360: Excellent tear resistance and a 60 Shore A
durometer rubber. |
|
 | Vi-Sil V-3040: This is a translucent rubber ideal for
prototyping and reproducing intricate detail and maintaining
close tolerances. It has improved polyurethane
resistance. |
